“Photography is the art of making memories tangible.” — Destin Sparks

I’m a poet and a photographer. A kid mom, dog mom, and plant mom. And adept at seeing you in the best light.

THROUGH THE LENS

We’ve all had the experience of looking at a family photo and feeling full of nostalgia. We’re sometimes less nostalgic about the experience of how that photo finally came to be. That’s where I come in. I love photography of all kinds. I’m always fascinated by what I see through the lens, but I find portrait photography especially rewarding. I’ve been shooting portraits professionally since 2009, and I know that almost no one is perfectly comfortable when there’s a lens aimed right at them. It’s my job to make that experience as comfortable (and maybe even delightful) as possible. And there is truly something magical about allowing someone to be seen at their best.

WHERE IT BEGINS

My sessions always begin with a consultation. I want to know about your taste and expectations. Are you looking for wall art or a Christmas card? Framed photos for grandparents or edgy senior shots? Do we need to ensure that the location we choose is safe for your great-grandma? Do we need to move quickly because you have a toddler who’s good for 20 minutes tops? We’ll make a plan together, and I’ll tailor the session to ensure that you get the photos you want and an experience that makes you smile … naturally.

THE JOY OF PRINTING

I have a deep and lasting commitment to printing the work you love. I know we live in a digital age. I love Instagram and the bounty of stunning and inspiring images that it connects me to, but there’s something about seeing an image that’s made it into the analog world that feels really special. And it’s not just nostalgia. Printing an image you love gives it weight. You won’t lose it among the thousands of other photos on your phone or find that you no longer have the drive to read that disk. And it’s still around after your phone’s battery dies.

OTHER STUFF I DO

When I’m not behind the camera, you can find me getting my hands dirty in the garden, writing about the many things in the natural world that inspire me, or snuggled up on the porch with a book and my Basenji mix, Cheyenne.
